Maremoto: Collage Collection

Collages by Maremoto

O Ghluin go Ghluin / From Knee to Knee

Merrion Street

M Architectural representation has been moving towards digital-heavy photorealistic rendering and, while we’ve learned a lot from these methods, we wanted our studio to portray our projects in a manner that was more particular to our practice. What we’ve tried to achieve is to not only try to preserve the necessary accuracy of site-specific design but also to evoke atmospheres that represent the personality of our projects and their context.

Lochtáin Spéire / Sky Terraces

Claochlú / Metamorphosis

We began creating collages by literally printing, cutting and taping images of our models juxtaposed with paintings such as in our projects Ál Fáinleoga & Cistín na Lus. We enjoy visiting museums and finding paintings that remind us of a client’s personality or imagining our work within the landscapes of a specific artist. It has also given us an opportunity to learn about other artists’ work and how they portray their world; how unique colours and skies can engulf the viewer in a familiar yet completely unexpected environment.

Reflecting on the context of our projects helps us create unique compositions. Two of our projects located in Dublin’s East Wall, I gCaochadh na Súl & Idir Clóis, have been depicted within industrial landscapes to evoke the history of this neighbourhood, built on reclaimed land in the late eighteenth century near Dublin Port and its proximity to railway lines in one of Dublin’s early industrial areas.

Idir Clóis / Between Courtyards
